Wipro 2005-'06 net up 27 p.c

Ltd posted net profit of Rs 2,067.4 crore for the financial year 2005-06 ending

March 31, 2006 with a growth of 27 per cent from Rs 1,628.5 crore reported last

year. For the reporting financial year, the company has recorded a total income

of Rs 10,626 crore, up 30 per cent as against Rs 8169.8 crore posted during the

year-ago period.






For the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2006, Wipro's

quarterly profits rose to Rs 617.9 crore from Rs 433 crore posted during the

corresponding period last year with a growth of 42.7 per cent. The revenues

increased 34.6 per cent from Rs 2312.1 crore to Rs 3113 crore this year.






Sequentially, the company's net profit has shown a growth of 43.7 percent from
Rs 430 crore posted during the third quarter of the last fiscal. Meanwhile,

revenues have grown 31.28 per cent from Rs 2090 crore for the reporting

financial year.






The global IT revenue stands at $519 million (Rs 2,317 crore) versus guidance of
$510 million last year.






The Indian IT giant has also added 42 clients in Q4 and has declared dividends
of Rs 5 per share. The Board of Directors has inducted Bill Owens as an

Additional Director of the company with effect from July 01, 2006.
