NEW DELHI, INDIA: WinZip Computing today announced the availability of WinZip 11.2, an updated version of compression software.
Available now on www.winzip.com, WinZip 11.2 integrates the Zip format’s newly-added Unicode support, allowing accurate rendering of international characters in file names when using the same Zip file on computers with different code pages.
"WinZip has always maintained the integrity of Zip file contents, but before WinZip 11.2, the Zip file format did not provide a robust mechanism to store international characters in file names for Zip files shared among computers using different languages," said Edwin Siebesma, president of WinZip Computing.
"WinZip recognized this as an opportunity to extend the global reach of the Zip format and we have worked with the Zip community to add Unicode support to the format.
With the release of WinZip 11.2, users can now create and share Zip files confident that international characters will appear correctly regardless of the code page of the recipient’s PC," he said.
