MUMBAI: Wincor Nixdorf, provider of IT solutions to banks and retailers, would soon set-up ATM manufacturing facility in India. The pilot in this regard is going on. The company is also eyeing outsourcing business from banks in India and would provide end-to-end banking solution in India. The company is currently selling ATM machines in the country.

Wincor Nixdorf indirect sales banking division MD Jorg Brinkmoller said, “We have been growing in triple digits for the last three years and we don't want to stick to selling ATM machines only. We have wider portfolio of solution to offer. Also setting up of manufacturing facility in India is in line with our globalization strategy.”

Though he did not disclosed the investment the company is going to put-in to set-up the facility, he said that technology would be sourced in from Germany and assembling would be done here in India. “India would act as a regional hub for the company and cater the ATM needs of the neighboring countries. Other countries where Wincor has manufacturing facilities include Shanghai, Brazil, Germany and Singapore,” he added.

Brinkmoller agreed that although the company has registered triple digit growth in the country, its market share is still very low. Therefore, the company has decided to provide end-to-end solutions to the banking industry. It would now offer the entire breadth of self-service and automation solutions including information and banking transaction terminals, statement printers and in solution business, applications to handle and optimize key in branch business processes.

The outsourcing would include servicing of multi-vendor ATM machines and multi-vendor software support.

In retail business, Wincor has been selling Point of Sales (PoS) terminals supported by kiosks to Reliance retail outlets and Pantaloon.

Wincor does not have direct presence in the country and operates through its business partners that include AGS Infotech and CMS.

Wipro e-peripherals sells its passbook update terminals in the country. AGS alone installed around 100 ATM machines in the country last year and targets to install 500 this year.
