Mumbai, India: Just days after the Supreme Court quashed the draconian Section 66A from the IT Act, the Maharashtra government will soon be scouting for an alternative, if a legislative motion initiated by a Shiv Sena legislator is passed.

The victim in question this time is none other than activist columnist Shobhaa De, whose tweets condemning the Maharashtra government’s decision to screen Marathi films in prime time slots in multiplexes, has irked the Sena legislator.

In her tweets, De has compared the decision of Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government with Dadagiri. The tweets have taken on a political hue and Pratap Sarnaik, Legislator, Shiv Sena, the self appointed protector of the Marathi Asmita, has moved a breach of privilege notice motion and demanded action against her.

We present below some of the tweets that have irked the Sena legislator.

Devendra Diktatwala Fadnavis is at it again!!! From beef to movies. This is not the Maharashtra we all love! Nako! Nako! Yeh sab roko!

I love Marathi movies. Let me decide when and where to watch them, Devendra Fadnavis. This is nothing but Dadagiri.

No more pop corn at multiplexes in Mumbai? Dahi misal and vada pav only. To go better with the Marathi movies at prime time.

Now a privilege motion demanding an apology from me? Come on! I am a proud Maharashtrian and love Marathi films. Always have. Always will!

So far, the speaker has not admitted Sarnaik's motion against De. However, in case a notice is served, De will have to explain her stand to the members of the state legislature. And if the Maharashtra assembly finds her views objectionable, she could even face a jail term!
