LUCKNOW: If things go right, Rajnath Singh will be the first chief minister

in the country to have launched mobile telephony in his own constituency in

Uttar Pradesh. While the Wireless in Local Loop (WiLL), the mobile service of

the Department of Telecom (DOT), is yet to come to the state capital, the stage

is set for launching the same service in Haidergarh, the assembly segment

represented by Rajnath Singh.

The WiLL scheme, which is likely to come to Lucknow in the coming two months,

may not cover remote wards on the outskirts. In the Haidergarh assembly segment,

the WiLL facility will be extended to 378 villages. Telecommunication Minister

in the Union Cabinet, Ram Vilas Paswan, was so concerned for Rajnath Singh that

within few weeks the funds required for setting up machines for the WiLL

technology were sanctioned and the machines reached Haidergarh last week.

Paswan himself intended to start WiLL technology in Haidergarh. After the

Technical University, this will be the second high-tech gift given to the

Barabanki district by Rajnath Singh. The state government already decided to

establish the Technical University in the Barabanki district and Rajnath Singh

had already laid foundation for this.

According to officials in the DOT, the ministry of telecommunication has

already sanctioned Rs 2 crore for the machine used for implementing the WiLL

technology in Haidergarh assembly segment. The equipment launched for the WiLL

technology is strong enough to cover the villages in the Haidergarh area.
