The report said the two parties "have partnered after leading two separate groups this summer to buy some of Kodak's 1,100 imaging patents. The two groups had separately offered less than $500 million for Kodak's portfolio. They now teamed up to offer more together". Kodak had filed for bankruptcy in January this year.

While joining hands to buy patents, Apple and Google offer a hope for new and advanced photo features on their phones. So far, Apple and Samsung phones (running on Google's Android) haven't put a lot of thought or development into cameras on their phones. The latest Apple phone, iPhone 5, has an 8 MP autofocus camera with flash and it can capture HD video and images simultaneously.

Both Apple and Samsung phones have similar camera features like geo-tagging, face detection, panorama, along with sharing options.

Among phones, Nokia has been experimenting with new camera features. When Nokia Pureview phone sported a 41 MP camera, it led to a debate on why a phones needs such high high-capacity camera. Now, Nokia has announced that cinemagraph and smart shoot camera features will be part of its Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices.

With Apple and Google buying Kodak patents, one can expect some advanced camera features on phones. What are the camera features you feel a phone should have? Do let us know.
