Will CBI arrest Kanimozhi today?

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Rajya Sabha member and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, who is appearing before the CBI court in Delhi in connection with the 2G spectrum case, said that she is prepared to face the worst.

“I am prepared to face the worst… I do not expect to be granted bail.... I do not expect leniency because I am a woman. Whatever the court decides, I will accept,” she said in a television interview.

In its second charge sheet filed on April 25, the CBI named Kanimozhi, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa, Sharad Kumar, Karim Morani and Kusegaon director Rajiv Aggarwal as co-conspirators in the spectrum case.

In this case Sharad Kumar, who is the managing director of Kalaignar TV, Karim Morani, managing director of Mumbai-based Cineyug Films, are also summed to appear before the CBI special court on Friday.

"We have to face whatever the courts decide and I don't want to speculate... let's wait and see what happens tomorrow," Kanimozhi told NDTV here Thursday. "We have to face everything legally... we cannot run away from things like the opposition leader in Tamil Nadu does. We have to respect the court. We have to face it... I can't keep running away.”

In an interview to CNN-IBN TV channel, she also said she will not apply for anticipatory bail.
