BANGALORE, INDIA: Apple might cut its tie with Google for its mapping services when it updates its iOS. There are reports that it is developing in-house mapping for its devices iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
This could be Apple's intent to gradually decrease its dependency on Google services as in 2010 it added Microsoft's Bing as an option for search in iOS.
It is stated that Apple's new mapping solution could include a 3D view and Street View services.
The new maps would be built around Apple's own cloud computing system, which has been gradually rolled out with iCloud users.
