WIF receives good response from India

BANGALORE, INDIA: The pre-selection process for Webdesign International Festival (WIF), world's largest Web designing competition, received a good response from India with 40 webbies from 11 teams craving to showcase their designing skills at an event held in Bangalore.

One among the 11 teams will make it to the Webdesign Finals in France in April 08. The WIF event, which is seeing participation from Indian for the first time, interestingly had all the 11 teams from Bangalore. Ray+Keshavan hosted the pre-selection event.

All the teams went head-to-head on Jan 18 from 6.30 pm at a City hotel to win a place in the finals of the WIF. The designers and developers, short listed for the pre-selection process, were required to create a web masterpiece with 24 hours based on the theme "Water is Life", which was released just at the start of the contest.

Aude Bourliataux, head of PR and business development, said, the pre-selections were simultaneously held at Brazil and Tunisia. "In all, more than 270 teams took part in the WIF pre-selections," she said.

The short listed teams at the pre-selection process will be announced by Jan 30. There may be more than one team from India which will make it to the finals based on the decision of the international jury, Aude said.

In April 2008, WIF will welcome the best Web designers from all over the world and important players of the Web design industry to the city of Limoges, in Central France.

The winning team from India will be invited to France on an all expenses paid trip to participate in the Grand Finale.

The organisers of WIF have entered into a partnership with CIOL (CyberMedia India Online Limited) as their official media partner in India.
