BANGALORE, INDIA: On a boring Wednesday afternoon, since I couldn't find better ways to entertain myself, I took to the web and started Googling irrelevant topics. I came across several news articles about Osama Bin Laden and how he was killed a year ago. Then I realized that exactly a year ago (on 2 May 2011), the US troops had ambushed him in a house in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

While most of the articles were about the world being a better place to live in with Osama dead, one interesting piece said 'A year after the martyrdom of Sheik Osama'. I was shocked, yet curious, so I clicked on the link. The author spoke about how courteous Osama had been to him when he visited his hideout. He even kept raving about how excellent the 'ghoshth' (boiled meat) was in his house.

When I tried to ignore it thinking it was a work of a lunatic, I discovered that the article was put up on a website that is actually run by the Taliban! It is called 'Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan' and also 'Voice of Jihad'. The website makes very clear its hatred for Americans and every nation supporting them. I also wondered if they had editors working for them, for the English used in the articles was flawless.

I regularly checked the site after that and recently came across an analysis (on 15 June 2012), which both angered and amused me at the same time. It claims that India 'understands' Afghanistan and hence was not cooperating with America (the link for it is as follows: http://bit.ly/ONtI4T).

The article, titled 'The American wants to involve other countries just to flee, But..', speaks about how defense secretary of the United States Leon Panetta visited New Delhi and for three days tried to convince India to provide them military help, but failed.

''No doubt that India is a significant country in the region, but is also worth mentioning that they have full information about Afghanistan because they know each other very well. It is totally illogical they should plunge their nation into a calamity just for the American pleasure,'' said the article.

The website has posted several contributory articles from warriors they call 'Mujahideen', latest news on how many American soldiers they killed (they call American soldiers 'puppets'), movies on wars (Jihad), and also writes about how many 'martyrs' gave up their lives fighting for freedom from America.

The site is being maintained by Dr. Tariq, who gives his telephone number and e-mail address in case you want to contact him. The site is regularly updated and more sophisticated than most of our websites.

What amazes me is how a website like this is being allowed to function with Kapil Sibal crying for censorship. Won't it affect the minds of impressionable youth? Do go through this website and let me know how you feel about it being up and functional (http://shahamat-english.com/).
