BANGALORE: Despite the hype surrounding the iPhone 5 launch , expected on September 12, and new record sales predictions there are already possible ques of why iPhone 5 may fail or impress all.

It's already an known fact that, despite the Apple having won a court cast against Samsung in a US court in a case related to patent violations, the technology gap that Apple was providing with new products has been narrowed down by competitors like Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC X One phones.

Availability Questions:

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster had recently projected a full 10 million iPhone 5 sales over a little more than one week seems attainable this year, as long as there's enough supply to meet demand.

But, according to Richi Jennings blog post in COMPUTERWORLD on Friday, the new iPhone 5 will have less DRAM and NAND flash sourced from Samsung, say sources. Apple is said to be buying significantly less from the South Korean company, although sources deny it has anything to do with the legal fights between the companies.

Zack Whittaker adds background:

Samsung a key component supplier...the world's largest memory chip supplier. ... makes DRAM memory and NAND flash memory chips for but could be sidelined in favor of...Toshiba, Elipida Memory, and...SK Hynix.

Challenges on on other supplier fronts:

Apple which has grown to really big over the years is faced with challenges from supple chains.

According to recent reports, Sharp has delayed in delivering new displays for the iPhone 5. Reports have also suggested that the deal between Sharp and Hon Hai/Foxconn has hit several hurdles, leaving the Japanese company with no choice except to mortgage all its domestic offices and factories in order to remain in business until that deal is done.
