The site has a new design that includes more interactive features, a prominent photo gallery displayed across the top of the site, the ability to get e-mail updates, and a White House blog. The site's "briefing room" also includes places for a weekly video address, slide shows, proclamations, and executive orders as well as news about nominations and appointments.

The Obama administration has created the brand new White House website to help people to be in touch with the Government. The new site also aims to help people to learn more about President Obama and his team, and about their plan to bring about the change America needs.

The all new look site has prominent tabs like:  The BRIEFING ROOM, The AGENDA, The  ADMINISTRATION, ABOUT The WHITE HOUSE, OUR GOVERNMENT. As per an announcement on the site, new content and features will be added every day, so as to attract new and repeat visitors.

President Obama is committed to creating the most open and accessible administration in American history," states the site's Contact Us page. Visitors to the site are invited to e-mail the president and his staff, although -- perhaps in a nod to the Twittersphere, where brevity is key -- comments are limited to 500 characters.

The blog posts on day one include topics like: Change has come to WhiteHouse.gov, A National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation, Honoring Dr. King's Legacy and Serving America, The Whistle Stop Tour.

The new White House site provides a video link for the Obama's Whistle Stop Train Tour on the eve of his inaguration which started from Philadelphia and passed through Delaware, Maryland and Washington. The tour was a repeat of the similar historic train tour by Abraham Lincoln 150 years ago.

Blog:

The site also hosts an official blog with latest news and current events and allows people to share thoughts and feedback with the President. In introducing the new site, White House Director of New Media Macon Phillips wrote in the blog's initial entry that Obama's online efforts will center on communication, transparency and participation.
