Whatsapp's diversity push: emojis get new skin tones

BANGALORE, INDIA: WhatsApp has decided to make bright yellow skin tones as the default skin color for its emoji people for the Android users.

Despite being a subtle change, it has managed to grab the users' attention immediately, as the users had been quite accustomed with the cream white skin tone of the emoji people all this while.

The users definitely did not like it at the first sight of it as the bright yellow color gives you a kind of sore eyes effect.

But be patient.. just tap your finger on the emojis and you will get six skin tone variations like bright yellow, cream white, pale, moderate brown, dark brown, and black to chose from.

Once you select your skin tone it saves your choice, which is cool! And the better part is that now you do not have to struggle to send a middle finger. There is an emoji for that too!

This could be a move to encourage diversity and be more inclusive. Recently Microsoft also did the same with its emojis on Windows 10.
