WhatsApp won’t work on old iPhones from February 1, 2020

WhatsApp will no longer work on old iPhone running on iOS 8. WhatsApp shared a notification for the same and asked users to update their iOS to latest.

Messaging platform WhatsApp has scrapped its May 15 deadline for users to accept its controversial privacy policy update.

Do you have an old iPhone and have not updated its iOS for long, this news is for you. WhatsApp shared a notification for old iPhone users who have not updated their iOS to the late or currently running on iOS 8, will not be able to use WhatsApp on their device until 1st Feb 2020. The notification comes on its FAQ page where the company mentioned about no longer support to iOS 8.

Recently Apple announced a new version iOS 13.1 and if you have updated your iPhone to the latest then you have not to worry.

WhatsApp is only focusing on users having iOS 8, the notification on its FAQ page says - “On iOS 8, you can no longer create new accounts or reverify existing accounts”. Further, the update mentioned, “For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of iOS available for your phone. We don’t explicitly restrict the use of jailbroken or unlocked devices. However, because these modifications might affect the functionality of your device, we can’t provide support for devices using modified versions of the iPhone’s operating system,” it added.

So according to WhatsApp, you need at least iOS 9 or later version to run WhatsApp on your iPhone. Else you won't be able to -
