Now, the Facebook-owned messenger app has rolled out a new tag - Frequently Forwarded. The new feature will be available on both Android and iOS-based apps. This tag will help to identify messages which are spreading quickly and users can make an informed decision before forwarding. The new WhatsApp feature will also help users to identify fake news.

How will WhatsApp Frequently Forwarded feature work?

There is no additional setting or activation required, however its still not clear whether it will be available to all users, WhatsApp will show you a notification, while forwarding a message, with double arrow highlighted in grey colour that will indicate the message has been forwarded multiple times. However, it won’t show the number of times the message has been forwarded.

The tag gets activated once a message has been forwarded five times. And once a user notified, he can decide to send or quit.
