New important feature under development: encrypt backup on Google Drive! Finally!https://t.co/qCZCurCxN8
NOTE: This feature will be available in future.
The new WhatsApp update would safeguard your online backup with a password. The feature is still in beta, WABetaInfo reported the update.
The feature will allow users to keep their Google Drive backups safe from everyone including WhatsApp. Users can encrypt the backup with a password, but in case you lose or forget the password, you might won’t be able to restore the history.
The feature will be introduced to everyone yet, it won't be mandatory. Users can choose to turn the feature on or off.
