The current limit for WhatsApp Video Call is 4 members. In recent news, they announced that they eased the way we can video call group member with one click. And now it might be rolling out an extension on the number of people we can video call.
📝 WhatsApp Messenger beta for iOS 2.20.50.23: what's new?
E2E header for calls, and big exclusive news coming in future: groups calls with more than 4 participants!
The share sheet integration is not available yet in this update.https://t.co/nRPpC38i5k— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) April 16, 2020
WABetaInfo is a website that provides the latest news on the app. It is not a WhatsApp company. They just form a detailed report on it through every update.
The website yesterday said that WhatsApp has recently submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.20.50.23. All features and improvements mentioned below will be available in the next App Store update, the 2.20.50 version. There will be a new header while calling on the app. While you’ll be in a call, WhatsApp will show a new header. And it will inform you that the call is end-to-end encrypted.
Today I can finally announce our exclusive: (WhatsApp) is planning to extend the limit of participants in a voice or video group call! This is a decision already made.
It’s possible to have group calls with 4 participants (including you) but WhatsApp, probably due to the concerns for the COVID-19 and the fact that more users are using group calls, has decided to extend that limit to allow calls with more participants. What will be the new limit?
We can say that it will be an even number. Probably 6, maybe 8. 10, 12?.
The tweet further read:
You'll be able to get in touch with your family and friends better, thanks to the new group call limit, available within the next weeks.
This is the best decision taken by @WhatsApp: we can stay safe at home, but we can meet virtually more people we love though WhatsApp 💚. #RThttps://t.co/M0DsObrTmS— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) April 16, 2020
This may be a good relief amid Zoom privacy concerns. WhatsApp is known for its transparency and security. In case, you can't wait for the app to call more than 4 members (including you), you can use Google Duo. It offers video calls upto 12 members.
