What's New in SAP HANA SPS 08

PALO ALTO, USA: The new SAP HANA SPS 08 release provides functionality to accelerate, innovate, and simplify your business.

Accelerate the adoption of infrastructure applications and the integration of third party applications into your IT environments. SAP HANA offers expanded technology choices including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Intel Ivy Bridge processor-based systems and expanded support for backup & recovery solutions from multiple vendors. You can further accelerate your deployment through an expanded and certified cloud service provider network consisting of 20 partners certified to support solutions powered by SAP HANA in the cloud.

In addition, In-Memory Data Fabric (IMDF) with smart data access technology is extended to new data management systems. More third party solutions such as security providers, test data preparation providers and geospatial solutions (for example ERSI) are integrated with SAP HANA. The expanded technology choices enable you to leverage your current infrastructure and strategic relationships with trusted suppliers while taking advantage of innovations across the entire technology stack.

Whether you are using SAP applications, custom applications or a combination, SAP HANA enables rapid innovation of both. SAP applications are enhanced to run more business functions and algorithms inside the SAP HANA database. Some of the enhancements made to SAP applications are, the ability to search attachments for SAP Business Suite, traverse time-dependent hierarchy for SAP Human Capital Management, Business Rules for SAP Fraud Management and Graph Engine capabilities for SAP Medical Insight application. You can innovative rapidly by extending SAP applications leveraging SAP HANA's advanced capabilities. With the expanded integration framework, partners such as SAS and others, can now create algorithms and run them directly in SAP HANA, adding massive performance gains, while removing the complexity of data redundancy and data movement. With 8 new and 7 enhanced (around 50 in total) out of the box in-database predictive algorithms, you can benefit from better performance. Derive more value from your SAP applications with the capability to run SAP Lumira inside the SAP HANA Platform. Create new applications faster and achieve better application performance.

Simplify application development and system management with SAP HANA. With the continued availability of SAP River under an early adoption program, you can simplify the development and deployment of SAP HANA-based applications. SAP HANA also extended its native HA/DR support with synchronous replication, even to multiple hot standbys, providing near zero downtime for upgrades and maintenance. With the ability to monitor important KPIs from any device from anywhere and intelligent diagnostics for non-responsive systems, system administration has been simplified. Along with an enhanced web-based IDE and breakthrough context-aware help with HANA Answers for IDE, developers experience a simplified and thus faster application development process. SAP HANA Interactive Education (SHINE) dramatically accelerates developer, modeler and the administrator learning experience with its extended examples in the areas such as Geo-spatial scenarios, CRUD ODATA Operations, Fuzzy Search, Full text Search, Business Rules, Fiori Launch Pad and Mobile Dashboards. SAP HANA SPS 08 is technically released with SAP HANA revision 80. For information on the requirements and dependencies for installing Revision 80 please see SAP Note 2020199. It is now available for download from the SAP Support Portal. With the release of SAP HANA SPS 08, SAP will introduce new maintenance revisions for SAP HANA SPS 07 based on the last shipped SPS 07 revision (revision 74) - these new maintenance revisions will be named 74.x.
