NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Samsung Galaxy Note could possibly be called one of the biggest contenders in the list of devices which is entertaining, productive and provides the best networking at the same time. Powered by the 1.4GHz processor, and having a screen resolution that matches that of the laptops, the Note is nowhere comparable to a Smartphone, but the size doesn’t allow someone to name it a tablet device.

The size is exceedingly large for a mobile phone, and that’s what makes it odd to have it beside the ear while making a call. But given the large size for the mobile, the resolution that has fitted in, doesn’t make it any less than the Galaxy Tab, the largest sibling of the Galaxy series. The HD Super-AMOLED display in the 5.3-inch screen brings out the resolution of 1280x800 pixels, providing an excellent graphics quality for the content that you view through pictures, videos etc.

What we call as the S-factor from Samsung, the Note has got something that no other Android device has ever got. The S-Pen that pops out from the bottom part of the Note, comes with features such as pressure sensitivity, preciseness and it provides one of the best alternative to your finger touch, and this pen brings the best out of the dedicated applications like the S-Memo and S-Planner. The S-Memo does something that the high-end software in the laptops and this doesn’t need any designing knowledge to bring out some geeky results of designs made out of the pictures captured through the Note’s camera.

The 8-megapixel camera of the Galaxy Note gives you the best photography, with a big LED flash on the rear side, and the 2-megapixel one on the front is an excellent replacement to the computers and their webcams for the video chatting with friends, through one of the many networking and chat apps available for Android market. The rear camera comes with a plethora of options to play around with, and capture the best using the 8MP lens of its, and the videos captured are of 1080p high-definition quality, the quality of which could be judged while capturing a video itself, given the screen resolution. Connectivity is where the Note can set itself apart from the other competitors, having the 4G LTE connectivity apart from the Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct, and the web browsing is never slow on the default Android browser that comes in the Note, thanks to the processor that clocks 1.4GHz.

Of course the Galaxy Note has a few cons. If someone is looking for the best interface that comes by default, Samsung fails to provide one. It is the same Android interface that the entire Galaxy family holds. The S-Pen although being excellent at its function and design, is tiny and hard to hold when someone tries to write on the top corners, where the touch of the palm area is unavoidable. The functioning with a single hand is hard, as the Note covers the entire palm, and the fingers cannot reach all the areas on the 5.3-inch screen, which accounts for one of the reasons why we don’t call it a smartphone.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Note is an impressive beast which would keep the Dell Streak, The Galaxy Tab 7”, the Galaxy S II at bay, when one talks about the specs and performance, but given the cons, we recommend it to those who don’t care about the design and size, but the actual functionality.
