What makes Ankit Fadia the face of 'Digital India'?

The government finally gave a clarification that Ankit Fadia is one of the four names got nominated for Digital India Brand Ambassadors

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The government finally gave a clarification that four Digital India Brand Ambassadors were nominated as part of the Digital India week (July 1-7, 2015) and yes, Ankit Fadia is one of them.

The other persons nominated for the same are All India IIT-JEE toppers, 2015 Satwat Jagwani and Krati Tiwari, and Computer Scientist and the author of 6th Sense, Pranav Mistry  of Samsung USA.

The controversy sparked after the name of Ankit Fadia surfaced as Digital India Brand Ambassador a few days back. Fadia's Facebook post regarding the appointment took social media by storm.

His appointment hasn’t gone down well with the social media, and it raised a few eyebrows also -questioning Fadia's suitability for Digital India campaign.

Fadia shot to fame when at 15 with his book "Unofficial Guide to Ethical Hacking". His books have often been accused of plagiarism and making false claims. He even claimed that he defaced CHIP magazine’s website in 2013, a claim that was denied by the former CHIP editor Charles Assisi.

The government first denied the movement, and then confirmed it yesterday in a another statement.

The brand ambassadors will propagate the product and applications being launched by the department under Digital India Programme for a period of one year.
