The state's decision to select Scytl came after a competitive bidding process where proposals for technology solutions from multiple providers were evaluated."I am very pleased to be working with Scytl on this project to ensure that our deployed military and overseas citizens have a faster option when it comes to how they receive their absentee ballot," Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant said. "The men and women of our military are fighting to preserve our right to vote, so it is up to us here at home to fight for their right to cast a ballot. It always has been and always will be a priority of mine, especially since I have a husband who was recently deployed to Afghanistan, to make the voting process more accessible for these voters and safe and secure online ballot delivery is one of the ways we are doing that."

The State of West Virginia used Scytl's technology to provide online voting options to military and overseas voters during the state's Primary, Special and General Elections in 2010 under a pilot program created by West Virginia legislation. During this pilot, Scytl's technology was used in West Virginia's Jackson, Kanawha, Marshall, Mason, Monongalia, Monroe, Putnam and Wood Counties.

"We're excited to be working with Secretary Tennant and her staff on the implementation of our SecureBallot solution," said David Campbell, General Manager of Scytl's U.S. operation. "Secretary Tennant is a pioneer in her commitment to providing flexible election technology options to West Virginia's voters and we look forward to helping her roll out advanced solutions throughout the state."

In addition to West Virginia, other U.S. jurisdictions using Scytl's technology for the November 2012 elections include the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and New York and Dallas County, Texas.
