WeP Top UPS, Lofty Aspiration

The main idea behind the WeP Top UPS is to move the normally boring function of a UPS, out from under the desk to take pride of place on the desktop. The design is something that will make a person stop and take notice. And it's not just a UPS either. Sure, it has a surge protector built in, and will continue to run off mains even when the voltage ranges from 140 to 300 volts AC. But it also has a twin LED lamp and a mobile phone charger (Nokia, Sony Ericssson, Motorola and Samsung plus provided). All these will continue to function even when the power runs out. Plus there's a 6 CD rack on top to provide an organized resting place for some scattered CD jewel cases. Only thing is, I doubt anyone with a computer these days has only 6 CDs.

What would have really increased the functionality by several notches, is if the device had a small fan built in and maybe a detachable flashlight that charges itself when attached. At least it does provide 15--20 minutes of backup power for a standard PC and a 15-inch CRT monitor. And it's quite light and small. Buy it if you have lots of desktop space available and need something to show off.
