Since the release of the first version of SQLyog 5 years ago, it has gained increasing popularity as an all-round administration tool for MySQL. SQLyog runs on Windows and the Wine Windows emulator on Linux.

Besides the GPL-based Open Source release, Webyog offers an 'Enterprise' version of the product that includes "Power Tools" for SQLyog - a powerful and unique set of features for MySQL DBAs and developers. The power Tools include a migration toolkit for MySQL, Data and Structure Synchronization Tools, and the ability to efficiently manage MySQL in hosted environments using tunneled connections.

"We are very glad to distribute SQLyog under an Open Source License. This has been made possible due to the enormous support from our users and customers," said Rohit Nadhani, co-founder of Webyog. "We can assure MySQL users that we will continue to do our best to provide them with state-of-the-art tools. The MySQL ecosystem provides us with a perfect framework to do so."

"We welcome Webyog's contribution to the open source community and MySQL eco-system," said Kaj Arnö, vice president of open source community relations for MySQL AB. "Their flagship SQLyog software has been a great resource for MySQL database users for many years. We support their efforts to grow their business by releasing an open source version of their successful product" he added.
