"Webshastra, leveraging technology and media expertise to create

solutions, will help advertisers and publishers unleash the power of the Web for

branding, selling products and building relationship with customers. We believe

in making advertising work on the web," stated company managing director

Vinod Nambiar. Webshastra claims to offer publishers an option to outsource

their complete advertising management function, including media sales.

Webshastra will create an "Ad Network" which will help both the

publisher and the advertiser.

Webshastra expects to develop detailed behavioral profiles of users within

this network to help advertisers target their desired customer segments much

more effectively and simultaneously, allow publishers to earn higher revenues by

accurately targeting particular user segments on behalf of advertisers, states a

release issued by the company.

Webshastra co-founder and chief operating officer Kiran Gopinath, believes

that due to lack of measurability, Internet advertising is held to unreasonable

standards, which invariably leads to companies complaining about Internet

advertisements not generating sales. He states, "Webshastra will deploy

advanced targeting technology to help online advertisers to reach the right

audience. Webshastra's technology infrastructure would enable advertisers to

customize communications precisely and according to their needs". Serving

as a liaison between the advertiser and website, Webshastra will assist partners

with advertising efficiency, technology management, marketing strategies, and

market research. The company announced the successful culmination of its first

round of venture capital funding. E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., a global

provider of private equity capital, provided the financial backing for

Webshastra.
