Websense to set up Indian operations

NEW DELHI: Encouraged by the growth of its customer base in the region and after having worked with its channel base in India for quite sometime, US based Websense, provider of web security software, has decided to open its own operations in the Indian sub-continent.






The company would be starting its operations in Mumbai within one month with a focus towards servicing its 200 strong customer base and coordinating efforts of its 50 resellers in the region. "Indian market has grown quite a lot for us. This is our way of recognizing the importance of this region. We have Select Technologies as our national distributor, so we will continue to work closely with them. Indian operations are not going to be too big for us. We are just starting with one person and would grow according to the market dynamics in the region," senior product manager at Websense Saran Gopalakrishnan.





Based in Mumbai, the company's Indian operations will take care of the whole of South East Asian region as well, including markets of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. "India is very important to us and is ideally located to service the needs of these markets. We already have a sizable number of customers in this region. With our Indian operations, we are likely to double the number of customers over here in India," Gopalakrishnan added.





With the company already establishing its offices in Japan, Hong Kong and Australia, India would constitute to be its fourth destination in the Asian region. "Our primary goal is to provide support to our existing as well as potential customers in this Asian region. Moving forward, we would be conducting training and imparting education in the area of security for our customers and end users as well," he explained.
