WD enhances India Channel Network

MUMBAI: Western Digital, a global hard drive manufacturer, today announced the addition of two more distributors to its channel network: Jupiter International, Kolkata, and Compuage Infocom, Mumbai.

The company said in a statement that it is building its distribution infrastructure to penetrate all Indian markets.

In an enhancement to its channel strategy, WD’s volume distribution segment in India will be further divided into the regional and up-country markets to address Resellers and small SI/assemblers.

While Venktron Infotech, Champion Computers and Lalani Infotech will continue to focus on regional markets where they have a strong presence, Jupiter International, Compuage Infocom and Inspan Infotech will address the up-country markets especially B, C and D categories of cities.

WD will continue to work with Mediaman Infotech in order to target the fast-emerging external and retail hard drive market in India.

Commenting on this strategic move, Sharad Srivastava, sales director, South Asia and India, said, “Based on our expansive foray into new markets and feedback from customers in these regions, we are increasing our up-country presence. The local expertise of Jupiter International and Compuage Infocom will help us to achieve this goal.”
