Wataniya ties up with Openwave Systems

BANGALORE, INDIA: Openwave Systems Inc., a software innovator, on Friday announced that Wataniya Telecom Maldives has selected its traffic management solutions openwave integra, media optimizer and web optimizer to intelligently manage increasing mobile data demand.

These solutions are designed to allow Wataniya to efficiently optimise web and video content over their 3G network with the goal of improving the subscriber experience and ultimately saving on bandwidth and Capex, said a press release.

“We believe Integra, Media Optimizer and Web Optimizer’s intelligent features will enable us to optimize web and video at the right network thresholds to provide an overall improved subscriber experience supporting our mandate to offer Maldivian subscribers the best user experience versus our competitors,” said Saffiyyudeen Rasheed, head of core networks, Wataniya Telecom Maldives.

Openwave Integra is a traffic mediation and application policy management solution while Media Optimizer provides intelligent, content and context-aware media optimization solution that works to automatically trigger optimization when the network reaches pre-determined thresholds. The Web Optimizer helps increase data transfer rates over Wataniya's wireless data networks, the release added.
