MANCHESTER, UK: Marcus Farmer, the widely respected and occasionally outspoken MD of environmentally savvy Manchester based waste management company STE Waste, said he believes vehicle tracking is integral to helping small to medium size fleets become sustainable.

Farmer, who caused a major stir within the UK waste and recycling sector with the publication of his controversial "Down in the Dumps - What Green Economy" investigative book two years ago, claims "green isn't green unless it costs less," and says tracking technology is an "enabler" of "sensible ways of working" that result in less cost to the business and less cost to the environment.

Likening tracking technology to "having a helicopter view of your operations," Farmer says his seven strong DAF and Mercedes fleet travelled 20 miles less per vehicle in the first week after being fitted with tracking technology from Navman Wireless.
