Virtusa, an IT multinational just got a bit innovative by asking their employees to refer others willing to join the company, and is throwing in lots of gift.

For the first time, the company offered a brand new Maruti Swift, for the employee who had referred the most number of people, and that too after a draw of lots.

Sachitanantham Santhosham, Associate, Technical Lead, at the Chennai office was the luckiest one to get the car from Tippu, a leading Tamil playback singer.

Though Santhosham was in fact ‘Santhosham’ after being declared the winner, and remained speechless, when the final announcement came, Sridhar Chandrasekhar, marketing director said it was their way of going innovative from the normal routine of giving incentives for internal referral programmes.

Later talking the media, Sridhar said that each employee was encouraged to refer a prospective employee and when they did, they had received a raffle ticket apart from their regular cash incentives.

“Overall there were about 1300 referrals, and 1600 tickets were given out, both in Chennai and Hyderabad,” he informed adding that the draw was conducted, resulting in Santhosham getting the car.

He said that the campaign – ‘Grow Virtusa’ had been overall successful with 32 per cent of employees being recruited in this method though the company was aiming at 40 per cent of employees by referrals.
