VSNL internet services disrupted

MUMBAI: Services at India’s largest Internet service provider (ISP), Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), got disrupted for more than 12 hours today due to sudden change in the billing system. According to sources, the company is putting-up new convergent billing solution for its customers resulting in VSNL’s main server being shut down.

While, VSNL has maintained that all its services are running smoothly, the major disruption of services took the subscribers by surprise in the morning. The company is currently using redundant server for the time being and expects the normal service to be restored by 6’O clock today.

VSNL is also upgrading its authentication system and shifting them from different locales to a single central authentication system based in Mumbai.
