Vodafone unveils 3G Android smartphone

MUMBAI, INDIA: Vodafone India, telecommunications service provider, has announced the availability of new 3G Android phone - Vodafone Smart - for Indian customers.

Powered by Android 2.2.1 operating system, 'Vodafone Smart' is aimed at tech savvy customers to access to mobile apps, games, internet and social networking platforms on-the-go, said a press release.

The release further added that, Vodafone subscribers will also enjoy a special introductory limited period offer of Double Data Benefit on their 3G subscription.

Kumar Ramanathan, chief marketing officer, Vodafone India said, "At Vodafone, we understand the pulse of the urban Indian youth who are extremely brand conscious and have shown a great response to smartphones."

"Vodafone Smart' is one such smartphone that is sure to delight our young audience with its stylish looks, smart features, host of exciting apps and 3G connectivity at an exciting, affordable price," he added.

"Globally, smartphones have become a versatile tool for mobile computing, communications and multimedia entertainment. Vodafone Smart fully utilizes Vodafone's high-speed 3G HSPA network to cater to the increasing demand in India for a compelling 'Internet on-the-go' experience," said Dr. Sandeep Sibal, country manager and vice president, Qualcomm India and South Asia.

'Vodafone Smart' comes with built-in features like 2.8 inch capacitive touch display, 2 mega pixel camera, Video recording and MP4/3GP playback, up to 32GB expandable Memory (2GB card Free), Stereo FM and MP3.

'Vodafone Smart' is available at all leading retail outlets, Vodafone stores and Mini stores across India.
