Vodafone Idea Chief Legal Officer Kumar Das quits; Manish Sansi takes over

Vodafone Idea Chief Legal Office Kumar Das has resigned from the company. Manish Sansi, who has previously worked with the telecom operator, will be taking over the charge. According to an internal mail from VIL MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar, he said, “This is to inform you that after a decade of a very successful stint, Kumar Das, our Chief Legal Officer will be leaving the company.”

In the last two years, he has supported business initiatives that spanned across integration projects. He also played an important role in the recent brand transformation, the mail added. Kumar will stay with the company for some time to ensure "a comprehensive transition of complex and historical legal engagements" said the company.

About Kumar Das

Das joined Vodafone India in 2010 and has been with the company for 19 years. Before taking the up the role at Vodafone Idea, he was general counsel for Vodafone’s Indian subsidiary. Holding that position for around eight years, he established the legal, secretarial, compliance, fraud risk & security (FRS) functions. Kumar led VI’s complex transactions including the setting up of Indus Towers Ltd and Vodafone Idea Ltd.

About Manish Sansi

Manish Sansi, the new chief legal officer, has previously worked with Vodafone India for over 2 years. He joined the company in June 2005 as Deputy General Manager and left it in Jan 2008. Post that, he worked with several reputed organizations as the legal and secretarial head. He was DGM Legal Secretarial at Indus Towers Limited and Vice President – Legal & Secretarial at Uninor (Telenor group – Norway).

In his latest role, Sansi served Tata Communications as General Counsel India and Company Secretary. He worked with Tata Communications for over 5 years and was responsible for legal affairs of the company in India.

VIL, the telecom company that is formed by merging two of India’s leading telecom service providers – Vodafone and Idea, has also appointed Jagbir Singh as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Jagbir is replacing Vishant Vora who quit VI in October.
