VMware bets big on its software-defined data center vision

BANGALORE, INDIA: As a part of the strategy for the year ahead, VMware will take its virtualization capacity deeper into the data centers. The cloud and virtualisation infrastructure solution provider has indicated that it is building capacities in India to hone the storage and network virtualization capabilities for software defined datacenter.

A lot of focus for VMware in India for 2014 will be seen around the hybrid cloud and end-user computing as well, said T. Srinivasan MD, VMware, India and SAARC who was present in VMware's Solutions Solution Symposium 2013 held in Bangalore.

VMware will be bringing the vCloud Hybrid Service in India next year. It has also unveiled new capabilities and partnerships to support the growing mobile workforce and 2014 will see a full-fledged roll out of them.

The India R&D operations make a significant contribution to the company's portfolio of virtualization and cloud computing products and VMware intends to invest $120 million over the next couple of years to consolidate its R&D operations in India. It will also expand the workforce in India, as a part of long-term growth strategy.

In the symposium, VMware showed how its solutions can simplify the IT infrastructure with its newly announced solution roadmap in the VMworld this year.
