BANGALORE, INDIA: Today at VMware Partner Exchange 2009, VMware, Inc. and CollabNet announced a new relationship that will deliver a unified development environment that enables independent software vendors (ISVs) and developers to create applications for deployment in public or private clouds.

The combined solution is designed to provide developers and ISVs with increases in productivity and reductions in infrastructure cost when developing applications with distributed teams.

This unified development environment, which provides the developer the ability to incorporate VMware Studio in CollabNet TeamForge, is available now and is among the first to provide distributed teams of application developers with an on-ramp to public and private cloud production environments.

“We are excited to work with CollabNet, a leader in distributed application lifecycle management, to help enable and accelerate the development of applications for internal and external clouds,” said Dan Chu, vice president, emerging products and markets, VMware.

VMware Studio is an authoring and management tool that enables software providers and developers to build customized virtual appliances that can be shipped in industry standard Open Virtualization Format (OVF).

The combined solution will provide an end-to end solution and can be used by global teams at each stage of the application lifecycle.

ISVs and developers can code, build, and test applications with CollabNet TeamForge, deliver them as virtual appliances with VMware Studio, and distribute them through the VMware Virtual Appliance Marketplace.
