SAN FRANCISCO, CA: VM6 Software, a provider in virtualization solution, on Tuesday announced that VM6 Virtual Machine ex Server (VM6 VMex) high availability software has become part of the Microsoft virtualization solution ecosystem and will be promoted through marketing activities.
VM6 VMex is second generation software that provides affordable software solutions to extend the benefits of enterprise-class virtualization to distributed IT infrastructure environments.
It leverages Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 to create an internal cloud that can provision, consolidate, manage and protect all of the remote office, branch office (ROBO), and SMB workloads without the need for expensive hardware or storage area networks (SANs).
VM6 solutions do not require any specialized skill sets other than Microsoft Certified System Engineers (MCSEs), said a press release.
"VM6 VMex was designed to allow CIOs to address cost and manageability issues of ROBO and SMB IT infrastructures. By combining Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V virtualization technology and VM6 VMex high availability technology, companies are now able to bring the benefits of virtualization to their distributed IT environments without complexity and at 1/5th of the cost of alternative solutions," said Claude Goudreault, founder and CEO of VM6 Inc.
"Our work with Microsoft will contribute to the adoption of virtualization outside of main datacenters by giving CIOs the level of assurance they need to go ahead with these projects,” he added.
Dai Vu, Director of virtualization solutions, Server and Tools Business at Microsoft Corporation said, "Our work with VM6 Software sets the course for more integration of VM6 VMex with Microsoft virtualization products so that customers can use virtualization in their branch offices or SMB."
He added that VM6 Software is one of the first companies to provide virtual storage pooling solution that is integrated with Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V.
