Visual computing seminar discusses future of GPU

HYDERABAD, INDIA: For the first time, India’s leading institutes, manufacturers, IT innovators and public bodies came together here on Tuesday to discuss the future of world’s most revolutionary computing technology: the graphics processing unit (GPU).

This seminar was organised by NVIDIA in association with TiE Hyderabad and HYSEA.

“TiE is pleased to associate and support event like the Visual Computing Seminar as it is in line with our goal to provide networking opportunities and foster growth of the Indian IT industry globally,” said J A Chowdary, President of TiE.

“The GPU has moved far beyond its gaming origins. This computer chip now makes powerful home PCs more affordable, helps businesses to reduce their costs and provides scientists with supercomputers right on their desks.”

Narasimha Rao, president of HYSEA, said events like this seminar would help the IT community in Hyderabad to experience and get to know world’s most talked about technologies and exploit the immense business opportunity it offers to the IT industry.

At the seminar, NVIDIA demonstrated three optimised and three non-optimised PC systems currently available from retailers in India. It has also created an online tool which allows users to see for themselves how specifying different combinations of GPU and CPU will affect the price and performance of a PC, said a press release.

The seminar featured eminent industry experts who discussed innovation, design and deployment of the most up-to-date GPU cutting edge technologies in the modern era. As well as hands-on demos of the latest GPU technology.
