Visa gets Symantec power

BANGALORE: Symantec Corp. today announced a partnership with Visa International Asia Pacific to offer promotional business packages for Symantec's small business Internet security solutions to VISA Business and Corporate cardholders in India.

As more small businesses are increasingly relying on the Internet for online banking, email correspondence with their customers and partners the need for online security has never been greater. According to the latest Symantec Internet Security Threat Report Volume 9 (June 2005 - Dec 2005), the percentage of malicious code that threatens confidential information rose from 74 per cent in the previous period to 80 per cent in the current period.

As the leading organisations in Internet security software solutions and electronic payments respectively, Symantec and VISA are offering a solution for small businesses to ensure their information is secure when transacting online.

Michael Cannon, general manager, Commercial Solutions, Visa Asia Pacific welcomes the joint promotion. "This partnership with Symantec is part of Visa Commercial's effort to provide solutions to cater to small businesses' growing needs. Internet security is as much an IT issue as a business issue today and we are pleased to be able to jointly offer leading-edge solutions by Symantec to our Business & Corporate card holders."

Under the terms of the joint promotion, VISA Business & Corporate card holders have until December 31, 2006 to purchase Symantec Client Security 3.0 Small Business Pack through authorized partners in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Symantec Client Security 3.0 Small Business Pack includes 5-user, 10-user, and 25-user packs. While consumers will benefit for a discount up to 20 per cent, the shipping of products across India will be at no extra cost.
