Vineet Nayyar is chairman of Satyam

BANGALORE, INDIA: Mahindra Satyam has promoted Vinner Nayyar, previously vice-chairman, as the chairman of the Board. He will continue as a whole time director.

In its filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Satyam Computers also announced that consequently the size of the board has increased to eight comprising two independent, two non-executive and two executive directors.

Nayyar was CEO of Tech Mahindra till June 2009. He was the founding chairman and managing director of the state owned Gas Authority of India. He had also served as the manging director of HCL Corporation as also the vice chairman of HCL Technologies. Nayyar was also the founder and CEO of HCL Perot Systems.
