HYDERABAD: Consumer electronics company Videocon International Ltd is going
to set up an Internet television-manufacturing facility at the Hardware Park,
situated about 30 km from Hyderabad. The company would invest around Rs 150
crore for the project which would be operational in six months time.
"This is an initiative to further strengthen our presence in the Indian
sub-continent and we are going to fund the project completely by internal
accruals," said Videocon president Pradeep N Dhoot.
Videocon has a technology tie-up with US based Telecruz for manufacturing the
Internet TV sets.
"We are also looking forward to manufacturing computer peripherals,
color TV sets, refrigerators, washing machines and DVD players, and the facility
is going to create space for more than 600 jobs in the region," he added.
Venugopal said that with the addition of this facility, the company’s CTV
capacity would increase to 2.5 million units, refrigerators to 1.5 million units
