Videocon to launch LTE in India in 2013

BANGALORE, INDIA: Videocon plans to launch LTE services during the second half of 2013. Recently, the company has bagged liberalised spectrum in telecom circles of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West), and Bihar.

The company has re-won the spectrum for 6 circles wherein it already has its ongoing operations and is planning to ensure that the customers keep on enjoying the best services and great value for money product offerings seamlessly.

The spectrum won by Videocon in the recent auction is paired and liberalised and can be used to roll out next generation networks and Services by adapting a highly spectrally efficient 4G technology FDD-LTE. This enables operators to gain more efficiency using the same spectrum resources.

Next-generation network technologies enable about 30 times more data capacity than a traditional 2G network, allowing telcos to extend the lifespan of existing spectrum assets and reduce the amount of additional spectrum required.

LTE would be capable of delivering high throughputs of 100 Mbps to the mobile user and can support data heavy applications such as maps and HD Video streaming. The new technology can deliver a much richer experience like seamless video streaming and hi-speed Internet access to the user compared to any other technology.
