VeriFone, a division of Hewlett-Packard Company,today
announced that two processors have implemented its new VeriTalk Lite terminal-support
software, a Windows NT(R)- based solution that offers businesses the ability to increase
profitability in their terminal operations by simplifying the deployment and management
process.
MediCheck Service, Inc., a Los Angeles-based Electronic
Data Interchange (EDI) provider to top healthcare organizations, has selected VeriTalk
Lite to manage its network of 2,000 terminals. First American Payment Systems, a
merchant-services provider based in Fort Worth, Texas, is using VeriTalk Lite to oversee
terminal operations at 412 sales offices nationwide.
VeriTalk Lite is the only integrated download-management
system that enables a single operator to deploy and manage up to 5,000 payment terminals
from a single workstation. The operator can make extensive global parameter changes to
terminals and conduct up to 16 simultaneous downloads within one implementation,
streamlining the process previously required to perform these operations.
"VeriTalk Lite offers us the sophisticated
capabilities that larger businesses use for their terminal-management operation, while
providing a lower cost of ownership that meets the needs of a smaller-sized
business," said Jorge Wong, general manager of MediCheck Service. "We hope to
enjoy savings over time, because the solution requires less manpower and training to
operate."
"The response to VeriTalk Lite at First American has
been overwhelmingly positive," said Ellen Hudec, vice president of sales at First
American. "Feedback from the field has been that the product makes terminal
deployment and management a fast and simple process."
The VeriTalk Lite solution includes a real-time
download-monitoring capability, allowing the operator to easily trace data flow during
downloads to pinpoint any problem areas that may occur. Additional features integrated
into VeriTalk Lite include the Personal Oracle(R) database, which provides comprehensive
data storage and management, and Crystal Reports Writer runtime libraries, which contain
templates for the most commonly used reports, allowing downloaded terminal information to
be compiled quickly and formatted for reporting purposes. The solution contains an
easy-to-use graphical interface, designed to reduce the learning curve required for
help-desk operators. VeriTalk Lite is a complementary offering to the VeriTalk Enterprise
system, designed for larger and more complex networks.
"The speed and flexibility with which VeriTalk Lite
deploys terminals and performs software updates allows our customers to stay competitive
by enabling them to react faster to changes in the marketplace," said Stuart Taylor,
director of product arketing for VeriFone's Appliance Systems Division. "All of the
features of VeriTalk Lite, including the ability to perform simultaneous downloads,
schedule automatic remote downloads, and produce standard reports, simplify system
management and lower the total cost of ownership for our customers."
