Venkatramani to head Cognizant's India business

CHENNAI, INDIA: Cognizant, a provider in information technology, consulting and business process outsourcing services, today announced that S. Venkatramani has joined the Company as head of Business for India and Emerging Markets.

R Chandrasekaran, president and managing director, Global Delivery, Cognizant, said, “We are delighted to welcome Venkatramani to Cognizant. He is a proven leader with deep knowledge of the Asia Pacific and Middle East markets. In the course of his career, he has built and nurtured strong relationships with the top 200 CEOs and CXOs in India across a wide variety of segments.”

He added that his experience and strategic insight would be a valuable asset as Cognizant continues to make investments in new geographic markets to further globalize its business and support their global customers around the world.

Prior to this, Venkatramani handled several important assignments, including heading the Oracle Practice and Relationship for six years, product development and marketing for four years. He also served as the head of Alliances for a brief period.

According to a company release, Venkatramani is well connected with industry associations such as the CII as the past co-chairman of its IT Committee (Western Region) and co-chairperson of IT at The Bombay Chambers of Commerce.

Venkatramani holds a bachelors degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai, and is an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, the release added.
