NEW DELHI: Seattle-headquartered vCustomer Corporation, with a delivery facility in India, is buying the Directory Assistance Service, Operator Service and Relay Service assets from a telecom company.

These assets include multiple call centers across the US and one call center in the Philippines, reports Global Outsourcing.

The company has also signed a multiyear agreement with the telecom company to provide network management, directory, and operator services. This makes vCustomer the first India-centric BPO company to have a significance onshore delivery presence in the US.

The only other company with somewhat similar (nearshore) capability for UK market is HCL Technologies, which in a similar deal had bought a call center from BT two years back.

According to the press release, vCustomer has built significant capability as the transaction involves multiple centers in the US as well as in Philippines.

Upon completion of the transaction, vCustomer will have approximately 6000 employees located across the US, the Philippines, and India.

vCustomer is one of the few top ten India-centric companies that is focused only on the customer interactions space and has strong clientele in tech support and retail verticals, such as Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, Target, and Fingerhut. This acquisition gives it a foothold in the telecom vertical.
