Vanu, Inc. previously announced the establishment of a research and development (R&D) center in Bangalore in December 2007.

Both the New Delhi office and the R&D center in Bangalore are divisions of Vanu India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Vanu, Inc.

"Vanu’s innovations in wireless infrastructure including software radio base stations and other solutions will now be available in India through streamlining the marketing channel directed to the needs and requirements of local customers," said John Winn, executive vice president, Business Development.

"India is a strategic, long-term market for our company and we will continue to increase headcount in both the offices this year," he said.

He said that the company is focused on solving three challenges facing Indian operators today: to reduce the costs associated with carriers running multiple standards; to provide cost-effective solutions to carriers serving large populations with low ARPU; and to help carriers differentiate their own offerings in a crowded market landscape.

Vanu software radio is the first wireless infrastructure solution to enable individual base stations to simultaneously operate GSM, CDMA and beyond.
