The engineering services-telecom networks

group specializes in designing, deploying and maintaining of large integrated voice and

data networks. Its key strengths include networking, software expertise and alliances with

world leaders like Nortel, Bay Networks, Atlas Telecom, General Electric, and Hughes

Networks. This division has bagged

some major orders in the last year including the network of Government of Maharashtra and
the DoT. Global Net, one of India’s largest networks capable of offering frame-relay

and e-commerce services, has been another major project executed by the group.

Last year, telecom infrastructure group had

its focus on government and utilities sectors. The company is doing a full range of

services for the Railways and carried out outside plant works for IRCON International. It

offers complete spectrum of turnkey services like testing and commissioning of the TDMA

WILL, BTS/BSC equipment, site survey, site engineering as well as supply and installation

of infrastructure items. The other major orders came from Srinivas Cellcom, IOC,

Fascell,

and Hughes Network.

GTL’s software and Internet-related

services have witnessed an exponential growth in the last fiscal. This division has

positioned itself in the niche areas of e-commerce by initiating system integration and

developing industry vertical solutions in the areas of payment gateways, strategic

sourcing, intranet and extranet solutions.

However, there was a decline in the revenue

from the company’s consumer telecom division owing to the shift in focus away from

products business, where value addition and margins are low, to services business.

Global has singled out e-commerce as an

area of focus and plans to emphasize on networking, software and newer markets in Europe,

the US, Middle East and Far East.
