The Uttarakhand police force has found the Holy Grail to effectively connect with citizens. After the success of its mobile application in Garhwal, they have now launched a mobile app in six other districts of Kumaon region. The app facilitates quick communication and also helps the police team provide information with just a touch of a smartphone.

The seven key features of the app , which can be easily downloaded through Play Store, are tenant verification, reporting crime incidents, information of lost and found, information on corruption, domestic aid, and employee verification, alerting police about traffic jams and another issue, and details of wanted criminals.

"I have seen the mobile application of some other states, but the one prepared in Uttarakhand is far better and user-friendly," DGP Uttarakhand M A Ganapathy said.

The app, IG Garhwal Sanjay Gunjyal said, will also be helpful in ensuring women safety. "They can tell police about eve-teasing, cyber stalking or any other matter in the simplest of the way. The app can be easily downloaded and to inform about any crime one does not require coming to the police station," he added.

The app has received an overwhelming response with more than 75,000 people getting verification of their tenant or domestic help. As many as 3160 matters of lost and found have been reported to police through this application. “We presently have 17,406 registered users and the number is expected to go up by leaps and bounds in the next few weeks," said Gunjyal.
