What is UTM?
Don Ng: Unified Threat Management (UTM) is a term we have coined along with IDC. According to us, a UTM machine or appliance must have three basic capabilities - firewalling, IPS, IDS and anti virus capability at the gateway.
We can divide the gateway security market into two: The traditional firewall VPN market, and the UTM market, which is a new concept. The UTM market is rapidly gaining ground to overtake the traditional market. According to IDC, while the traditional market is expected to grow at a CAGR of four - five percent till 2009, the UTM market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 43 percent during the same period.
What are the UTM products from the Symantec stable?

Who are your target customers for the SGS 5600 Series?

The appliances in the SGS 5600 series are priced in the range of $4000 to $35,000. The pricing of the appliance depends on the number of users behind the firewall. If the number of users is large, companies can also go in for limited license.
What is the USP for the SGS 5600 Series?
Don Ng: SGS series offers two advantages to our customers: Security factor and infrastructure return on investment (ROI). By providing seven different functions on the same box we help organizations in cutting down their hardware cost.
On the RoI front, as our products integrate around seven security functions into one box, it is cost-wise a better proposition for companies. Also they save on the manpower cost of manning seven different devices.
