BANGALORE: US based Symbol Technologies, Inc, an enterprise mobility company, has announced its plans to expand its India operations. The company would be setting up a new development center in Bangalore, which would be spearheading the development of next generation mobility products and solutions.
According to the press release, the Bangalore center will initially have a work force of 180 engineers, with significant room for expansion to house 500 engineers. "The India development center would be a world-class product and solutions development facility for Symbol. The idea is to blend the immense technical talent available in India into the next generation products and solutions development plans of Symbol so that the value proposition out of India is way beyond lower cost of manpower," said Symbol global products group senior VP, Todd Hewlin.
Symbol Technologies India MD, Amit Phadnis said, "The India development center, one of the four Symbol development centers worldwide, would become the largest center outside of the US". Symbol has already invested $10 million in India, so far. It proposes to invest another $30 million in ramping up the India operations. Symbol also plans to partner with other Indian technology companies for its product development activities and to extend its Enterprise Mobility reference architecture," he concluded.
