Bangalore IT.COM'99, the second edition of the
International IT exposition, is planning to attract US fund managers and venture
capitalists in the country to woo prospective candidates and companies with a
technological edge.
To be held in Bangalore between November 1 and 5 at the
Electronic City, the event is expected to attract more than 500 companies and generate a
business in excess of Rs 500 crore.
India's expertise in the software and solutions businesses,
and the cyber fames of India such as Sabeer Bhatia and Rakesh Jain have further increased
the international community's interest in Indian start-up companies and Indian software
brains. On registration of participation for the event, the organizers of Bangalore IT.Com
are expected to give the names and contact persons of these funding companies; to enable
the Indian companies take advantage of the right kind of partners they are looking for.
And based on the availability of the people representing these organizations, one-to-one
meetings with the international giants will also be organized for the Indian companies.
This Government of Karnataka initiated event will have five
focus pavilions showcasing fast emerging IT sectors like Linux, ERP, E-Commerce,
Infrastructure and Home, on a 20,000 sq mt space. This Business-to-Business event is
expected to attract over two lakh visitors and provide a broader platform for participants
to launch new products and to meet the challenges and rewards of the new millennium. The
event is organized by the Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA) and managed by
Cyberexpo.
"In sheer magnitude we expect Bangalore IT.COM '99 to
be the largest IT event in India. Moving forward from the inspiring success of the
previous edition, we have made every effort to ensure that this year's event aids a more
significant interplay between participants and potential business partners," said
Mr.Sanjoy Das Gupta, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Karnataka. In
keeping with the Government's objective of encouraging entrepreneurship, Bangalore IT.COM
'99 will help provide an ideal bridge between entrepreneurs and their consumers. The
emphasis will be on projecting Bangalore as the IT capital of India and thereby attract
investments by multinational IT companies into this fast growing IT destination.
Participation of IT majors like Compaq, IBM, Intel, Sun
Microsystems, Wipro, Infosys, Texas Instruments has been confirmed already.
