NEW JERSEY: A multimillion dollar contract has been awarded by Gate Gourmet, a provider of catering and provisioning services for airlines and railroads, to build a unique web-based software system for aircraft Galley Planning (GP4). The contract has been won by Marlabs, that a strategic partner to Gate Gourmet, is currently executing multiple technology services contracts.

As it further shares in a press release, these engagements include the development of InFlight Exchange (IFX) - an integrated technology platform for airline suppliers and airlines to collaborate with each other to deliver multiple services. GP4 is a major component of the IFX suite. Gate Gourmet customers, who are major airlines, will leverage IFX to optimize and improve their in-flight supply chain.

The GP4 software will enable airlines to optimize galley design, loading, and balancing with automatic monitoring of weight loaded and available space. Functionality includes creation of tailored galley manuals with customized aircraft, galley, and tray layouts. Using a drag-and-drop user interface, the software will make it possible to design, load, and publish galley loading instructions and check and balance weights in accordance with government regulations. Optimizing design of the galley area, the software will ensure a streamlined and efficient galley layout that lowers costs while enhancing passenger experience, the company adds.
